The family liaison works with families, community agencies, and school personnel to alleviate issues affecting a student's abilities to maximize their academic and social development (such as a lack of consistent access to adequate housing, food, and clothing).

Services may include crisis prevention and intervention, consultation with school personnel, and connecting students and families to community resources. 

Family liaisons may assist families and school personnel with removing barriers to immediate enrollment.
